We offer qualified customers a no-fee Border Trust ATM/Debit card, which allows customers to access their accounts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week wherever the Visa®, Plus® or NYCE® symbols are displayed. The Visa® check card allows you to spend within your means and helps you to avoid debt while maintaining the convenience of paying with plastic. Unlike a credit card, the Visa® check card does not accrue interest charges. Border Trust will supply you with a record of all transactions conducted on your monthly statement.
You may use the Border Trust ATM/Debit card to access your accounts at no charge from our full service ATMs conveniently located at our South China, Augusta, Jackman and Topsham branches, and from our ATM located at the Tontine Mall, Brunswick.
Our Border Trust ATM/Debit card is a Visa® check card, a type of "debit" card that looks similar to a credit card but acts like a check because the purchase amount is deducted directly from your checking account. With this card, you can make purchases at millions of Visa ® debit locations worldwide. The Visa® check card can be used at locations such as supermarkets, retail stores, restaurants, gas stations, and internet sites.
Visa® check card transactions may be completed in two ways: either by signing a receipt or by entering a personal identification number (PIN).
- Authorize purchases with a signature: You may use your Visa® check card by signing for your purchase. You can select credit on the terminal at the checkout or tell the cashier that you want a credit transaction. But not to worry
- the purchase amount is deducted from your Border Trust deposit account. Also, when you sign for your purchases, you are protected by Visa® guarantees like a Zero Liability fraud policy
- protection that may not apply to PIN-based transactions, cash or checks.
- Authorize purchases using your PIN: Unlike Visa® credit cards, our check card may be used with a personal identification number (PIN) to pay for merchandise or to request "cash back" when making a purchase at certain stores. You should be aware, however, that not all merchant locations that accept the Visa® check card permit cardholders the option of using their PIN.
To report a lost or stolen Border Trust ATM/Debit card: Please call us promptly at 1-800-769-1549 during normal business hours, and we will notify the appropriate parties and replace your card. If our offices are not open, please report your card as lost/stolen to Visa Customer Service at 1-800-VISA-911, and they will block your card as long as you provide them with your full debit card number. Please call us as soon as our offices re-open to let us know that your card has been lost/stolen, and we will notify the appropriate parties and replace your card.
